Letter From Church Leadership

3/31/2020

Dear Friends in Christ,

In his letter to the Galatians, the apostle Paul says that we should “stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens and so complete Christ’s law.”

During this unprecedented crisis, we have seen members of the Epiphany community stoop down to share each other’s burdens and care for each other in countless ways. Whether discovering a wide variety of ways to connect with each other, supporting each other through prayer, shopping for groceries, worshiping as a virtual community, making face masks to support doctors, nurses and other medical personnel or dropping off large amounts of food for our friends at First English Lutheran Church, we have been a community that has revealed God’s revolutionary love for us in the person of Jesus.

We also want to thank members of our church staff for their creative, faithful and tireless efforts to provide opportunities for the Epiphany community to experience faith in ways that are completely new to many. God’s spirit is at work; calling forth our gifts for the sake of disciples of ages!

When we last communicated with you, we indicated that all of Epiphany’s onsite and in-person ministries would be suspended through Saturday, April 4th. Since then, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Dr. Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, have announced that Ohio’s schools will be closed at least through May 1st.

With this decision as our guide, we have determined that our onsite and in-person ministries will resume with worship on Sunday, May 3rd. Having said this, we know you will understand that the health crisis in which we find ourselves could easily result in an extension of the date that has been established by Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton.

As we live through these uncertain days, we want you to know that your health and well-being are paramount in any decisions we make that will impact our ministries.

In closing, we share the following words of the apostle Paul as an expression of our appreciation for all of you.

“We always give thanks to God for all of you and mention you in our prayers, constantly remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
